Dr. Fani & Victor Blackwell discuss Dr. Fani’s work on racial discrimination and the effect it has on the brain.

“Dr. Negar Fani, joined Host/Airshifter April Taylor, to discuss the science and community implications of new research outlining, “Racism produces subtle brain changes that lead to increased disease risk in Black populations” and the work of Grady Trauma Project. The discussion outlined the insidious nature of racism and the effects on the body. The impacts of racism/white hegemony can impact health irrespective of “subtle” encounters but the cumulative effects of racism/white hegemony can have a profound impact on key organ systems of the body especially impacting the prefrontal cortex of the brain.”
