Award Recognition: Dr. Timothy McDermott

Dr. Tim McDermott is a new postdoctoral fellow in the Fani Lab as of August 2023, and he was recently awarded a three-year fellowship through the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). His F32 National Research Service Award will provide training and research in electroencephalography (EEG) analysis, and it will specifically focus on analyzing EEG data collected at the University of Pittsburgh as a part of the ongoing Mechanistic Investigations and Neuroscience of Dissociation (MIND) Study. Tim is interested in testing how EEG measures correlate to reward-processing deficits (i.e., anhedonia) in trauma-exposed participants with dissociation who are participating in the MIND Study. He is also interested in how mindfulness training might improve reward-processing in study participants and whether improvement relates to changes in EEG measures during mindfulness.

Congratulations, Dr. McDermott!
